The Last Salmon is being developed alongside an aspirational impact campaign called Water Is Life, inspired by the film’s central belief that we only change when we care enough.

Water Is Life connects the emotional power of the story to meaningful, real-world engagement — extending the film’s reach beyond salmon country to rivers and communities across North America, and potentially around the world.

By pairing the film with practical tools for people of all ages, the campaign aims to turn awareness into local action.

  • In development, the Water Is Life impact campaign aims to:

    • Raise awareness about the thousands of obsolete “deadbeat dams” — large and small — that quietly block waterways across the continent

    • Help people discover which dams affect their local rivers and watersheds, wherever they live

    • Share the ecological and cultural impacts of these barriers, including their effects on fish, water health, and Indigenous communities

    • Highlight the tribal nations, community groups, and conservation organizations already working to restore these waterways

    • Offer clear, accessible pathways for individuals and communities to support or participate in local restoration efforts

When rivers and streams are allowed to run free, life returns. Water is life.
